You need to eat in order to get the nutrients that are essential for life.

It is possible to get these through a drip, or in liquid form (which isn’t technically eating) but this is not recommended.

Your body needs protein to grow and repair itself. There are 20 amino acids that make up all the proteins in the human body and 9 of them are not produced in the body so you have to eat them! (10 when you’re a child).
Carbohydrates give you energy, vitamins keep your nails, teeth and bones healthy. The list goes on.

You need to eat to live!

Nope! Your body needs food to survive.

Not without some replacement form of nutrients.

Buuut there is a company that I’ve been following with idle curiosity called “Soylent” (named after the mystery foodstuff from an old SciFi story). They aimed/aim to produce a liquid diet that replaces everything you need at once and fills you up. It went through pretty heavy personal testing (as in the guy literally tweaked and changed the product to include wider variety nutrients that his body needed) and he claims he’s arrived at some end product.

Whether or not its actually a sufficient replacement is up for debate, but technically he’s drinking not eating.

You need to get nutrients into your body somehow – so if you don’t eat, you need to get food through a tube or intravenously or you will die.
