• Question: Is it true that some people are right brained and some people are left brained? I keep being told different things, so what evidence is there to support either side?

Certain tasks are often more dominantly performed in one side than the other, for example, language is often processed more in the left side and motion (of a sound or an object) is often processed more in the right side. However, everyone is different. Our brains were all very similar at one point, and then as babies, we start forming more and more connections between areas that end up working together. We can train the brain to work in a certain way, and, purely by accident, some links can become stronger than others. Some theories say that male brains work in a certain way and female brains work in a certain way, but nothing has ever been proven to be true in every single person! Basically, everyone’s different – all our brains work slightly differently. Some people might use the right side or the left side of their brains more than others. Some people will be exactly half and half!
