Most people’s social lives matter in some way to them, even if they don’t want to admit it. Speaking to other people helps everyone feel sane and like other people understand their world.

Sometimes people become so self-aware that they forget how interesting the rest of the world is though. And in my opinion, learning new things and experiencing new parts of life is what living is all about.

I think Josh nailed it with “helps everyone feel sane”.

There’s likely a deeper evolutionary drive somewhere that causes us to be social creatures, but I don’t know what it is. As to why it matters more to some than others, thats a tough question to answer without simultaneously being on both sides of the spectrum.

But as I’ve said before on this board, and in most chats where it comes up, life is all about balance. An active social life in balance with an active work life.
